Just like any open house, let’s start with a showing of Kindred, giving you a brief history of ture kinship, what it is, how it came to be and how it morphed into Kindred. But first, a true life story from a podcast listener on how she and her horse work together in true kinship.
What’s True Kinship With Animals?
It’s learning to not claim dominion over animals in a world that claims dominion over animals and relating with animals as kin through a new place of understanding and intentionality
How Did It Come To Be?
True Kinship With Animals was birthed from my desire to meet the unique need of people - like you - who are willing to ask for more in the animal/human connection than common culture says it should be possible to have. It was created for folx who believe animals are more than ‘just an animal’, they are your kin and you are ready to begin that paradigm shift in your life.
What’s The Connection Between True Kinship & Kindred?
From the concept of true kinship with animals grew the online subscription community, Kindred. You begin to relate to animals through a new place of understanding with the monthly teachings, journal prompts, practice suggestions, affirmations, altar suggestions, community forums and Q&A sessions. You are encouraged to explore, practice and participate in meaningful and unifying conversation around true kinship, sparking a community bond.
In the next mailing, I’ll be sharing what’s involved when you’re a Kindred community member.
When we remember our relationship with animals is about mutuality, cooperation, reciprocity and exchange, we are already beginning to leave our human-centric perspective and dip our toes into the waters of true kinship.
— Janet Roper
If you were to begin to consciously practice true kinship, how do you imagine your relationship with animals would be different?

About me…..
I am an animist, podcaster, intuitive practitioner and mentor identifying as she/they and respectfully acknowledge I am supported and sustained on the traditional and ancestral territory of the SĂ©liÅ¡ (Salish) and QĂŒispĂ© (upper Kalispel or Pend d’Oreille) People who have stewarded this land throughout the generations.
As a practitioner of true kinship with animals, I pledge to recognize the descendants and practices of the original Peoples, Lands and Animals. I will not knowingly appropriate their wisdom, nor will I knowingly speak over their voices. When I have participated in colonialism practices, I will be accountable by publicly acknowledging the harmful practice, apologizing, and doing the needed reflection and self work to do better in the future.
For 30+ years I have facilitated clear conversations between animals and people. In my work I encourage people to recreate a bond with animals by disengaging from colonized approaches and relating in true kinship.
I am cheerfully owned and managed by a multitude of angel animals and several houseplants.
