Inside: Inspiration, insights & info on true kinship with animals - from me to you! Asking for help, where to find me, I’m asking for your help, how you become a true kinship champion and January’s affirmation for paying subscribers.
When I moved to a small MN community outside of Minneapolis, I became an ardent DIY-er, a do-it-yourselfer.
The cottage I moved into (pictured above) was a 100+ year old residence built for the local railroad workers. It had not been taken care of…..floors were uneven, snakes got in, appliances didn’t work, the front door didn’t open because it was blocked by the roof, and so on.
But it was adorable, charming and even had a resident ghost or 3. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I was determined to take care of it ALL. BY. MYSELF. Whatever was I thinking???
But, because I needed to prove to myself that I could do that, I even found it difficult to reach out to the property manager for repairs.
I now recognize part of my compulsion was because that was the time, the generation, the family I grew up in. When I asked for help as a kid I was told “the good Lord helps them who helps themselves.”
Hmmmm…….
And then the other day I realized there was more to it than that:
it is a stigma to ask for help in a colonized society.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I do believe it is time to break away from that age-old stigma and explore different ways to be here for each other as we are learning new ways to show up in the world for ourselves and for the animals.
What do you say to that?
When you’re reading this newsletter, do you get the feeling you could use more community, more support on your true kinship journey? Do you sometimes feel like you’re the only one in your circle of community that gets the significance of true kinship?
If that’s the case (and it can take a lot of courage to recognize that), let’s connect in a discovery call. It’s a chance to get to know each other better, a chance for you to share your true kinship journey with someone who GETS IT (me) and explore various channels of true kinship community for you.
Sound good? I look forward to hearing from you.
Share this newsletter with someone you love. Thank you!
Speaking of Help!
Are you grieving a family member who just happens to have wings, scales or 4 legs? Is our connection with animals moving from 'just an animal' to a beloved family member? Has it done that already? Does it depend on where you live in the country, or your generation? If you’re able to help, much appreciated! Inquiring minds (mine!) want to know!🤯🤯🤯
