Raise your hand if:

  • You and your dog have gone to the dog park and your anxious dog is wearing a “Do Not Pet” jacket. Someone runs up to her/him, starts to pet them and when you say no, they respond with “It’s Ok, all dogs like me.”

  • You’re on a trail ride with friends, riding one of their horses. The horse starts to jig and you are using gentle hands to help calm them. The horse’s owner tells you the horse doesn’t understand gentle hands, you need to be harder with them.

  • Things have been crazy busy at your house, more than normal. You’re getting ready to go on vacation and it’s time to drop the cat (who knows something is up and hates car rides) off at the sitter’s. The cat has ‘disappeared’ and your frustration level is sky high. You’re thinking to yourself “why can’t the cat just get over it and cooperate. I don’t have time for this.”

✋✋✋ You’re not alone.

All of these examples demonstrate people imposing their command over animals.

Colonization has taught us we have dominion over animals & expects us to act that way

This translates into: I can pet the dog whenever I like, I have to use harsh hands to calm the horse, dismissing a cat’s fear because I have a schedule to keep.

In the depth of your soul, you know it doesn’t have to be like that. There’s a different relationship to be had with animals. You’re ready to let go of the colonized conditioning, but you don’t know how to do so, where to turn.

Know what I mean? Uffda.

I’m here for you and I can help you find your way to that different way - to true kinship with animals.
