Let’s continue our talk about community, true kinship and Kindred.
For most of my life, I have thought of community from the perspective of "All's well that is well that will be well," as said by Julian of Norwich, a 14th-century English mystic.
I took it to mean that to gather in community with like-minded folx was needed and that’s all it took. And frankly, when I have thought of my participation in a community from that perspective, I’ve felt spiritual …. and superior. 🤦🤦🤦
I have been wrong. So sorry!
Yes, community with like-minded folx is needed, that’s the beginning. Once in a community, you get to choose how you show up.
In communities that have grown stronger, I’ve noticed:
The Essence of Community (spirit of the community itself) asks members to come together in a collaborative, deliberate manner, held by a common theme. There you can see a reflection of yourself and you have the opportunity to choose how or if you want to change that reflection.
Sometimes the community, meaning yourself as a community member, other community members and the essence of the community ask if you are ready to transform and become more than who and how you thought you could be.
That’s where things get real. How do you choose to participate in reality?
Transforming your relationship with animals starts with transforming yourself.
