Does true kinship change with the seasons?
The concept doesn’t, but the ways we participate with it might.
On episode #63 of the True Kinship With Animals Podcast, guest Kelley Harrell talked about finding balance with your own ecosystem during the season change. Listen to this short clip of our conversation and listen in full on your favorite podcast platform.
Season changes affect the local ecosystem and animals (including humans) need to adapt for their own well-being and survival. The changes with light, weather and the environment all impact daily life, appearing in mood, metabolism, sleep cycle, food access, birth cycles, migration and hibernation.
With changes like that how do we navigate true kinship?
Suggestions
Remember all animals have their own agency
Recognize and respect their need to adapt to the changing season
Respect animals are quite capable of taking the lead and setting boundaries with you
Recognize how the changing season is affecting you, the amount of energy you have, the amount of time you have as days grow longer or shorter
How can I help you navigate true kinship during this season change?
My main work is collaborating with people in the Kindred Community and in 1:1 sessions.
Join the Kindred Community
Kindred is for folx who are feeling they're caught between a rock and a hard spot on how society treats animals (as animals) and how you treat them (as kin).
1:1 Consultations
One Time Consultations are suited for folx who are new to working with me or current clients who would like to do one time check ins.
Ongoing collaborations are for folx who are ready to receive more individualized time, space & intentionality for deliberate exploration of your connection with animals.
All potential new clients start with a free 30ish minute discovery call giving us a chance to get to know each other.
Feel free to connect with me in those arenas, on the podcast, on social media .
If you support my work but are not ready to do 1:1 work or join the Kindred comunity, a financial contribution is an excellent way to express that support.
