Inside: Inspiration, insights & info on true kinship with animals - from me to you! Learning from Spider, together in reciprocity & the February teaching for paying subscribers. Want to see the monthly true kinship teachings? Become a subscriber today.

Hello folx,

Is there someone in your family who is always trying to coerce you into something?

Mine was an aunt, the food pusher at family gatherings. She would say things like “here, you’re not eating enough, take this” or “let me reheat that for you and you can try another bite”. The biggest guilt trip: “you’re not eating the cake I made just for you” (‘just for you’ was not true).

I loved her dearly and wanted to hide under the nearest rock whenever I saw her coming my way!

That behavior was rooted in Roper family and ancestral traditions, based on colonized expectation.

Uh-oh. It has come to my attention I do that too! Not with food, but with true kinship with animals. I’m your friendly-true-kinship-with-animals-pusher on the webs. 🫢

I’m no longer willing to do that, I have not meant to cause you to look for the nearest rock……🤦‍♀️

I truly enjoy what I do, and truly believe it is my calling. Yet when I approach it from the colonized perspective I am exhausted.

When I first started as an animal communicator, I took business courses and was taught it was essential to be everything to everybody 24-7, constantly promoting, always being on stage, never saying no. I did it because that’s what I though I must do.

Exhausting. Moreover, that’s not the authentic me.

I have been searching for a way to show up for you as my authentic self, in a way that doesn’t exhaust me and in a way that supports you on your true kinship journey. I believe I’m on to something.

One of my favorite sayings is “I don’t spider nearly as well as Spider”.

That’s true but I do learn from Spider. My lesson: I’m going to start relying on the ever-present home I’ve created on the web to do the work it was created to do. This is a place where you can show up in your leisure, curiosity and agency.

I am still here for and with you, just no longer as your local true-kinship-with-animals-on-line-pusher 🕷️😸

I’m not always in the web home, and it doesn’t make sense for me to try to do so. (I’m a slow learner!) My web home, was created for you, it is ever-present and it is ready to welcome you 24/7. It is a place I hope you will take the time to explore and find what resonates with you.

Visit my web home (check the Everything page) and you’ll also find links to Substack (that’s this newsletter), The True Kinship With Animals Podcast, Kindred and the Bling! collection
