Together in Reciprocity

True kinship with animals has taken on a life of its own and (for me) is morphing into true kinship with reciprocity. No one is more surprised than I am at this, yet at the same time a part of me is wondering what is taking so long for me to get it??

My thoughts and practices on this are based on the work of Kening Zhu , for which I am grateful.

I was taught a successful business was profitable, experienced constant growth and worked competitor analysis and calculated risk taking. I was taught the sole object of a business was to make money and that you had to work hard, not taking breaks.

Based on colonized systems, that’s true.

And that one dimensional view has always left me feeling exhausted, resentful and disgusted.

Based on true kinship, that’s false. Remember:

True kinship is a vessel of change that offers a vision and perspective from the future, not one that is marooned in the present, defined by archaic colonized systems.

Behind each finished product, podcast, writing and social media post you see there is the joy, excitement, enthusiasm, confusion, swearing, blood, sweat and tears (sometimes literally!) of the complex creativity that supports each unique product birth. Can you feel it? I’m beginning to understand reciprocity is the honoring of the heartbeat that gives those products life.

Reciprocity is not quid pro quo but always optional, yet its value is boundless. If you have ever found my work helpful, inspiring or if it has expanded your vision, I’m delighted and grateful to accept a token of your support in reciprocity.
